All vehicles use the same trip dates. Quantities are subject to availability.
Daily rates in USD per vehicle. Driver-guide services are added separately. Availability and the final quotation are confirmed for your dates and route.
Know what your hire price covers
Rates are per vehicle per day. Packages marked with driver include the US$30/day driver-guide charge. Self-drive rates exclude a driver. The rooftop-tent package includes the camping kit listed below.
Fuel, delivery and other costs
Fuel is excluded from these vehicle-hire prices unless included in your written quotation. Vehicle delivery, collection, airport transfers and one-way relocation are quoted separately for your locations and dates.
Park entry and concession fees, gorilla/chimpanzee permits, activities, accommodation, meals, visas, tips, personal expenses, border documentation and extra equipment are excluded unless expressly included in the written quotation. Driver accommodation and meals, where required, and applicable taxes or statutory charges will be clarified and itemised in the final quotation.
Insurance, excess and security deposit
We will confirm the vehicle’s insurance cover, excess, exclusions and any optional additional cover in your hire agreement before booking. An insurance excess is the amount you may need to contribute to an applicable claim; it is not a daily rental fee.
The €200 refundable self-drive security deposit is separate from insurance excess. It is not a statement of the insurance excess or a cap on your liability. Damage, recovery and other liabilities depend on the signed hire agreement and applicable cover.
Final confirmation: availability, vehicle allocation, inclusions and all applicable charges are confirmed in your written quotation. Fully packaged guided safaris may include fuel, permits or accommodation when expressly listed.

Do I need an international driving licence?
Yes. For a Gari Trips Uganda self-drive hire, you must bring a valid national driving licence and an International Driving Permit (IDP), often called an international driving licence. Carry both documents during your trip. The IDP accompanies your national licence; it does not replace it.
How much is the security deposit, and is it refundable?
A €200 security deposit is required for self-drive hire. It is refunded in full when you return the vehicle in the same condition as you received it, following the return inspection. Any equipment supplied with the vehicle should also be returned in the same condition.

Is the security deposit included in my hire price?
The €200 security deposit is held separately from your vehicle hire payment and is not included in the planner’s USD priced subtotal. It is also separate from the booking deposit described in our Terms & Conditions. Keep it in mind when planning your trip budget.
What should I check when collecting the vehicle?
Inspect the vehicle together with our team. Check the bodywork, tyres, spare wheel, lights, fuel level and any supplied equipment. Record existing marks or damage on the handover checklist and take photos before departure, so the collection and return condition can be compared clearly.
Ask our team to explain the vehicle controls and any camping equipment before you set off.
What do I need to do when returning the car?
Return the vehicle at the agreed time and location, in the same condition as at collection, together with its keys and all supplied equipment. Our team will compare its condition with the handover record and check the equipment with you. Let us know if your return plans change.
Is fuel included, and what fuel level should I return with?
Fuel is excluded from the vehicle-hire rates, including driver-inclusive hire, unless your written quotation includes it. Agree the collection and return fuel arrangements with Gari Trips Uganda before departure.
What should I know about insurance?
Before booking, ask us to confirm the vehicle’s insurance cover, excess, exclusions and any optional cover in the hire agreement. Excess is a possible contribution to an applicable claim, not a daily hire charge. The €200 refundable self-drive deposit is separate; it does not define your insurance excess or cap your liability.
Do you provide roadside mechanical assistance?
Yes. Gari Trips Uganda provides reliable roadside mechanical assistance during your self-drive trip. Our experienced team helps assess mechanical problems and coordinate the right support, so you can continue your journey with confidence.

Does every self-drive vehicle include camping equipment?
Camping equipment is included with the advertised Land Cruiser + rooftop tent package: a tent sleeping two, two sleeping bags, a fridge, two chairs, a table and cooking equipment. Other vehicles have their own inclusions. Confirm the final equipment inventory and any extra camping requirements before departure.
Can I take the vehicle across a border?
Discuss any proposed travel outside Uganda with us before booking. Cross-border permission, documents, insurance and any related costs must be confirmed for your vehicle and route before you travel.

Is this a confirmed booking?
Review your summary first, then choose Send enquiry when email delivery is available. You can also open a WhatsApp chat from the review screen and choose whether to send the prepared trip message. Copying or downloading does not send anything. Sending an enquiry does not reserve a vehicle or take a payment. Gari Trips Uganda will confirm availability, terms and the final quote separately.
How is my estimate calculated?
Daily vehicle rates are multiplied by the number of hire days, including both start and end dates. A driver-guide adds US$30 per day per vehicle requiring a guide as a planning allowance. Rates are indicative; route, season, vehicle allocation and final terms may affect the confirmed price. “Tailored quote” items are not included in the priced subtotal.
What camping gear is included?
The advertised Land Cruiser camping package includes a rooftop tent for two, two sleeping bags, a fridge, two chairs, a table and cooking equipment. Additional campers or equipment require a separate arrangement. Confirm the final equipment inventory with Gari Trips Uganda before departure.
Can you help with gorilla trekking or a full safari?
Yes. Add gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, wildlife safaris, birding, adventure or cultural experiences to your interests. You can also request lodge arrangements. Permits, activities and accommodation are quoted separately based on your dates and route.
